Upaya yang telah dilakukan PGMI IAIN Palopo untuk menjamin mutu internal maupun sustainability program studi satu tahun terakhir adalah peningkatan mutu manajemen. Hal tersebut dilandasi dengan pertimbangan bahwa: Jika kualitas manajemen baik, iklim akademik juga akan baik. Peningkatan mutu lulusan dapat terwujud, animo calon mahasiswa diyakini meningkat dengan sendirinya.
Tidak hanya sampai disitu, dengan kualitas manajemen yang baik, sudah dapat dipastikan Prodi PGMI IAIN Palopo diperhitungkan dalam tataran lokal maupun global.
Sebagai strategi dalam melakukan penjaringan umpan balik Prodi PGMI IAIN Palopo yang dinahkodai Dr. Edhy Rustan, M.Pd mengorientasikan manajemen prodinya berbasis research. Sebagai contoh telah tersedia angket berbasis e-dokumen bagi dosen, mahasiswa, alumni, dan pengguna lulusan. Informasi yang diperoleh dari instrumen tersebut, telah digunakan prodi PGMI sebagai acuan untuk melakukan kajian perbaikan kurikulum, pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran, dan peningkatan kegiatan program studi.
